Robert Allen

Principal, Founder

Founding Partner of Metalhouse, a firm that specializes in product, graphic, architectural,

and interior design. He brings a unique multi-disciplinary perspective to the design process, reflecting his long-standing interest in the convergence of various design disciplines. Harvard-trained architect, he has over 25 years working with various design firms throughout Manhattan that include Butler, Rogers, Baskett, David Anthony Easton; Croxton Collaborative; serving four years as a lead-designer at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, with Partner Michael McCarthy; and presiding over the North American offices of the prestigious Swiss Corporate Identity firm of Zintzmeyer & Lux AG, that included launching BMW's 3-Series in North America. He is a full-time tenured Associate Professor at New York Institute of Technology; an active product designer for manufacturing companies such as Geiger/Herman Miller; and consults and writes in-depth articles on design topics throughout the industry.
